About ECB rates

The rates come from the European Central Bank via Frankfurter, published once per working day at around 16:00 CET.

There are none on weekends or ECB holidays, so on those days you are seeing the last working day’s figures.

Everything is quoted against the euro, so a pair like RON to PLN is derived through it and can differ slightly in the last decimal from a directly quoted rate.

These are not bank rates

Reference rates are published for information only. No bank or exchange office is obliged to trade at them.

Expect roughly 0.5–2% worse on a card, and considerably worse at an airport desk.
